Concept Overview:
Contain//Release is a meditation on the liminal state between restraint and transformation, a ritualized visual poem of a body suspended in elemental flux. The performer, Giulia Rouge, is enclosed in transparent, dark, fluid environments — half womb, half vessel — as her form transitions from liquid to flame, from stillness to momentum. The visual structure echoes containment, but her movement begins to break the boundaries of her enclosures, suggesting an inner fire that cannot be stilled.
This is not a violent eruption but an almost sacred unfolding, a metamorphosis that feels both ancient and futuristic.
AI’s Role in the Process:
This work could not exist without the influence of artificial intelligence, not just as a tool, but as a collaborator. Using generative AI models like MidJourney, @magnific_ai, and Higgsfield, the project explores what it means to choreograph motion from stillness, to render mythic imagery through AI, and to amplify human performance with surreal fluid transformations that exceed physical constraints.
AI enables forms and transitions that would be impossible to capture practically: liquid fabrics that become flame, capsules of water that breathe like organisms, particles that respond to movement with ceremonial timing. It becomes a form of continuous regeneration, one that nourishes and quiets at once. A duality in tension, converging into new forms of perfection.
The piece has no audio and was created specifically for the AOoN – the exhibition for AI & Creativity at Designforum Wien, Vienna (June-September 2025)
